So it's been a long time since I've updated. I have about 5 more weeks of school. I'm kind of in denial about that--NOT! *devilish laugh* Life is going good right now, and it's times like these that make me wonder if a low spot is coming. I really hope not.

The weather is nice, I've been going outside to practice color guard, and it's a great breather from the day. Sometimes I don't really go outside. And that's sad. My last big obstacle is a Chem exam tomorrow morning..I'll be really glad when that's over, let me tell you. Then it's packing for home, English and then leaving for home! I'm going back to the 'ol AHS to see 44nd Street. My sisters, Lauren and Kelly, are in it and I'm pumped to see them. This should be an interesting experience, since I'm usually looking at the audience, not at the stage.

Hopefully this weekend will be as relaxing and fun-filled as we're planning it to be. Jeff, Yosh and I are bringing Chris, Clemmy and "Shanon le gnome" back to Rochester and they will also be going to the musical tomorrow night with us. Then it's a lot of cruising around the Roch and showing them around.

But then Sunday brings lots of homework to finish for the following week..so I'm not going to think about that just yet.

Oh, weekend, I need you now!

I've never realized how great it is to have a car than now. But the thing is, I don't really have a car. I'm one of many poor Freshmen that aren't permitted to have a car on campus even if we wanted to. It's frustrating when I need to get to a vet clinic that's 5 miles away. Walking, biking and CATA buses make the usually short car ride much, much longer.

It makes me depressed that I'm missing out on important job and volunteer opportunities just because I can't get there.

In Bio lab we're crossing the Drososphila melanogaster--you guessed it, the fruit fly. While initially very appealing, it's a lot of work. And genetics can be pretty complicated. The uncomplicated part of it is knocking out a set of wild flies and a set of mutated flies. After separating by gender under the dissection microscope, the wild females are put with mutated males, and vice versa. The idea is that the flies wake up, realize there are many potential mates, and help us to observe the next generation in good time. Yay fun.

We've also been dealing with fast plants, which we pollinated and dried to collect the seed pods. When we were done, we had to return soil, stakes, plastic holders, etc. Since our TA's told us to throw away the twist ties, I (being a poor college student eager to collect anything that may come in handy) held onto them to wrap extension cords. Chris pokes fun at me because when I go to Meijer I search in vain for the Meijer brand of a name-brand product. Just for a cost difference. Well, I kinda did that before, but not to the extreme. Look at what college has done to me.

Huddle (our band "prom") is on Friday at the stadium! I'm so psyched, especially since I'll get to see how a lot of hard work with TBS will pay off. Chris and I are going together (of course) and we're sitting with Michael, Clemmy and some super awesome guard people. It's gonna be great!

Yesterday was a really nice Christmas for me. In the morning, I went with my family to church. It was really different because I'm used to waking up early and sitting around in pajamas while we take forever to open presents. I'm glad that I was proved wrong that going to church first thing on Christmas would be fun, and it reminded me that Christ is the whole reason why we even have a Christmas to celebrate.

I got a lot of things that'll come in very handy in my dorm @ state like a 36 pack of AA batteries, a clip lamp for my loft, a humidifier, etc. It was a nice, relaxing day, and after we had our ham dinner, my sister Kelly and I went to our mom's house to celebrate Christmas with her. That was nice over there too, and we watched "Christmas Vacation." What a crazy movie.

Tonight I get to work again at Maggie Moo's until close. I'm really hoping that we don't get slammed right before we close. That's always lovely. And they usually all want smoothies or shakes too. Yargh.

Tomorrow Chris is coming to visit!!! I'm really excited because it seems like such a long time since we've seen each other (a little over a week), and it'll be nice to just have some time to be together, and do our gift exchanges too. We're going to see the Pistons tomorrow night, and that'll be a lot of fun. Yay, I can't wait!
